LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Annette Adamczak upon the occasion of
receiving the 2013 Heroine of the Heart Award from the American Heart
Association

WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
those individuals whose extraordinary spirit and determination are an
inspiration to others; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Annette Adamc-
zak upon the occasion of receiving the 2013 Heroine of the Heart Award
from the American Heart Association; and
WHEREAS, Annette Adamczak received this prestigious award to a stand-
ing ovation during the Go Red for Women luncheon held at the Hyatt
Regency Hotel in Buffalo, New York, on Valentine's Day, February 14,
2013; and
WHEREAS, The quality and sanctity of human life are cherished values,
worthy of safeguarding; this Legislative Body is proud to honor an indi-
vidual who would serve to protect it; and
WHEREAS, Since losing her 14-year-old daughter, Emily Rose, to sudden
cardiac arrest in 2009, Annette Adamczak has been on a crusade that has
resulted in over 3,000 high school students learning Hands-only CPR and
training in the use of an AED; and
WHEREAS, Annette Adamczak has been a powerful voice advocating to make
learning these life-saving skills part of the required curriculum in
schools throughout New York State; and
WHEREAS, As a Certified CPR Instructor for Rural/Metro Medical
Services, Annette Adamczak uses her personal story to connect with
students, empowering them with the knowledge and skills to save a life;
her vital mission began at Akron Central School where her daughter
attended; and
WHEREAS, Annette Adamczak helped to make sure there were AEDs
installed at the Akron Sports Complex and Newstead Veterans Park; and
WHEREAS, Annette Adamczak has dedicated her life to bringing CPR
training to every student in the State of New York; in addition to
training and advocacy, she organizes the annual Emily Rose 5K Race in
order to raise funds to help support AED and CPR training; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that individuals who
exemplify a spirit of humanity, transforming personal tragedy into
proactive work for the health, safety and well-being of all citizens of
this great Empire State should be recognized and celebrated; now, there-
fore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Annette Adamczak on the occasion of receiving the 2013 Heroine of
the Heart Award from the American Heart Association; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Annette Adamczak.
