LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating George A. Hall upon the occasion
of celebrating his 105th Birthday

WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to commemorate and
recognize certain milestones celebrated by citizens of this great Nation
and Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late George A. Hall of Allegany, New York, upon the occasion of cele-
brating his 105th Birthday; and
WHEREAS, George A. Hall, with his zest for life, will celebrate his
105th birthday, surrounded by family and friends, on Sunday, March 10,
2013, in Allegany, New York; and
WHEREAS, Born in Cleveland, Ohio, on March 15, 1908, to Albert and
Della May Hall, George A. Hall has lived in Allegany since he was one
year old; and
WHEREAS, George A. Hall married his late wife, Luella, in 1932; the
couple enjoyed traveling together throughout the United States and Cana-
da; and
WHEREAS, After working on a farm a year after being married, George A.
Hall began a new job with the WPA works project in Allegany State Park;
he then went to work at his uncle's lumber business; and
WHEREAS, George A. Hall later took on a new job at the Van Der Horst
Corporation in Olean, New York; during World War II, he often worked
seven days a week to support the war effort by providing chrome plating
for guns; he retired from that job in 1972 after working there for more
than 28 years; and
WHEREAS, An active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Allega-
ny, George A. Hall has attended the church since the age of five; he
spent many years serving as a handyman for the church; and
WHEREAS, George A. Hall continues to live in his own home in Allegany,
cooking meals and even mowing his lawn; he enjoys watching sports on
television and is an avid reader; and
WHEREAS, This distinguished gentleman, who has experienced the incred-
ible joys and sorrows characteristic of, and reserved for, those with
the stamina and courage to savor a full life, has inspired the lives of
his many friends and family members; and
WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to publicly recog-
nize and honor the lives of beloved citizens who have reached a remark-
able age and who have witnessed and celebrated the innovations, cultural
developments and awesome achievements of this country during the last
Century; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate George A. Hall upon the occasion of celebrating his 105th
Birthday; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to George A. Hall.
