LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring James E. Panton upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the Les Urbach Lifetime Achievement Award by
the Albany Center Gallery

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, James E. Panton has given not only of his time and energies
but also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor James E.
Panton upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the Les
Urbach Lifetime Achievement Award by the Albany Center Gallery, to be
celebrated at its 35th Anniversary Masquerade Gala; and
WHEREAS, The Les Urbach Lifetime Achievement Award is presented in
memory of Albany Center Gallery's late founder, Leslie Urbach; and
WHEREAS, Albany Center Gallery is proud to honor James E. Panton for
his long, dedicated history of service to the organization and the Capi-
tal Region's cultural community; and
WHEREAS, James E. Panton has been called upon to contribute his time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, For over a decade, James E. Panton has brought a wealth of
wisdom and experience to Albany Center Gallery's Board of Directors,
serving with distinction in numerous capacities, including President,
Vice President, and Chair of the Government Committee; and
WHEREAS, James E. Panton has been a tireless advocate for Albany
Center Gallery's mission and advancement, and his contributions to
several other area arts organizations -- from the Arts Center of the
Capital Region to the Albany Symphony -- have only enhanced his legacy
as an invaluable resource for the local region; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, James E. Panton has stood constant
in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which James E. Panton has displayed
throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor James E. Panton upon the occasion of his designation as recipient
of the Les Urbach Lifetime Achievement Award by the Albany Center
Gallery; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to James E. Panton.
