LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Michael Breslin upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the 2012 Government Award by Senior Services
of Albany

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Michael Breslin has given not only of his time and energies
but also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Michael Bres-
lin upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the 2012
Government Award by Senior Services of Albany, celebrated at its Third
Age Achievement Awards Event on Friday, November 16, 2012; and
WHEREAS, Michael Breslin has been called upon to contribute his time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Retired County Executive of 17 years, Michael Breslin is a
West Point Graduate and Vietnam veteran who has selflessly served his
country and the people of Albany County; and
WHEREAS, As a lawyer, Michael Breslin's service to others was evident
as he was known to have a "heart of mercy"; he was a champion of
services and rights of women, children and the elderly; and
WHEREAS, Michael Breslin's love and support of the elderly was always
in the forefront of his mind as his parents were strong role models who
instilled in him respect and service to all; and
WHEREAS, As County Executive, Michael Breslin could often be found
joining in the activities with seniors he visited at the Albany County
Nursing Home; and
WHEREAS, Michael Breslin has been instrumental in advocating for
services being offered in the home for seniors as well as being deeply
involved in Veteran's Issues where he helped to facilitate over 250
services of remembrance; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Michael Breslin has stood constant
in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Michael Breslin has displayed
throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Michael Breslin upon the occasion of his designation as recipient
of the 2012 Government Award by Senior Services of Albany; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Michael Breslin.
