LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Raymond and Virginia Leonhard upon the
occasion of their designation as recipients of Bishop's Medals

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge
outstanding individuals whose professional lives, personal endeavors and
community service are an example and inspiration to their colleagues,
friends, and family; and
WHEREAS, Raymond and Virginia Leonhard have given not only of their
time and energies but also of their competence, intelligence and leader-
ship, and consequently have been designated for special recognition; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Raymond and Virginia Leonhard upon the occasion of their designation as
recipients of Bishop's Medals; and
WHEREAS, Bishop's Medals are conferred by Bishop Lawrence Provenzano
of the diocese of Long Island's Episcopal Church to worthy individuals
who have contributed immeasurably to the life, fellowship and service of
their local parish; and
WHEREAS, The Reverend Gerardo Ramirez of St. Mary's Episcopal Church
in Carle Place, New York, recently presented Raymond and Virginia Leon-
hard with Bishop's Medals; these Medals are the highest recognition that
can be given to any member of the diocese of Long Island; and
WHEREAS, Raymond and Virginia Leonhard are long-time members of St.
Mary's Episcopal Church in Carle Place, New York; and
WHEREAS, Raymond Leonhard has held numerous offices within St. Mary's
Episcopal Church, including senior warden, building and grounds chairman
and vestryman; he is also in charge of producing the church's weekly
bulletin; and
WHEREAS, Virginia Leonhard has administered the church's memorial
funds for many years, served on the vestry and been elected to the posi-
tion of junior warden; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by individuals
for the benefit of others which Raymond and Virginia Leonhard have
displayed throughout their lives; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Raymond and Virginia Leonhard upon the occasion of their desig-
nation as recipients of Bishop's Medals; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Raymond and Virginia Leonhard.
