LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 25th Anniversary of the Church
of God Christian Academy

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend institutions of true purpose and high achievement whose exem-
plary programs and accomplishments clearly demonstrate the pursuit of
excellence in education and service to the community; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 25th Anniversary of the Church of God Christian Academy; this
auspicious occasion will be celebrated on Friday, March 15, 2013, at the
Coral House in Baldwin, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Arverne Church of God in Far Rockaway, New York, a non-
affiliated and nondenominational Christian organization, established the
Church of Christian Academy in September 1988; this school is located on
the Rockaway Peninsula in a geographical area marked for and undergoing
expansive community revitalization; and
WHEREAS, The Church of God Christian Academy has open enrollment; the
school does not discriminate on the basis of gender, race, creed, or
religion; the school accommodates children from K-12th grade and
provides an educational alternative for low-income families who cannot
otherwise finance private education; and
WHEREAS, A particular emphasis is put on individualized needs, use of
interactive computerized learning strategies, and development of commu-
nication skills; and
WHEREAS, The Academy uses the fully scoped and sequenced School of
Tomorrow (A.C.E. Ministries) curriculum; this program, its history
beginning in 1970, is designed to allow each student to work at his/her
own level of achievement; and
WHEREAS, The students progress through the five basic academic disci-
plines, math, English, social studies, science and word building (etym-
ology), in an individualized manner; in this way, the pressure and usual
stress of keeping pace with a group, is removed; and
WHEREAS, The School of Tomorrow program provides for academic excel-
lence; graduate students from the program have been accepted in more
than 400 colleges and universities, including military academies, ivy-
league universities and technical colleges; and
WHEREAS, The Christian Academy is dedicated to providing a balanced
curriculum to its students; its children are constantly challenged to a
high standard of achievement and its programs offer students the oppor-
tunity to build character and leadership skills outside the classroom;
and
WHEREAS, Students participate in community service and outreach events
throughout the school year; the Annual Regional and International
Student Conventions challenge students 13 and older to develop their
ministry skills by competing in over 150 events in categories such as
music, speech/drama, athletics, arts, and academics; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when an educa-
tional institution of such noble aims and accomplishments is brought to
our attention, it should be recognized and applauded by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 25th Anniversary of the Church of God Christian Academy;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Church of God Christian Academy.
