LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 200th Anniversary of Warren
County to be celebrated March 12, 2013

WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to honor and commem-
orate the distinguished histories of the communities which comprise the
noble body of this great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the Bicentennial of Warren County to be celebrated with local
church bells tolling throughout the County on Tuesday, March 12, 2013;
and
WHEREAS, Created by the New York State Legislature on March 12, 1813,
Warren County was named after General Joseph Warren, a hero of the
Battle of Bunker Hill during the American Revolutionary War; and
WHEREAS, Warren County is made up of the Towns of Bolton, Chester,
Hague, Horicon, Johnsburg, Lake George, Lake Luzerne, Queensbury, Stony
Creek, Thurman, and Warrensburg; the Villages of Glens Falls and Lake
George; and the City of Glens Falls; and
WHEREAS, Warren County is known for its natural history and agricul-
tural heritage, and for the beauty of the Adirondack Park, as well as
its many rivers, lakes, and forests, which draw visitors and tourists to
the fresh mountain air for boating, camping, hiking, and summering; and
WHEREAS, Remaining fruitful over the ebb and flow of decades of growth
and change, Warren County continues its commitment to enhancing the
quality of life of its citizens, ensuring a positive business, institu-
tional and educational climate, and providing all essential services;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 200th Anniversary of Warren County to be celebrated
March 12, 2013, recognizing the significance of the role it continues to
play in the life of the community of the State of New York; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the County of Warren.
