LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Ex-Captain Harry C. Stolberg on the
occasion of his designation for special recognition after 30 years of
dedicated service to the North Lindenhurst Fire Department

WHEREAS, The firefighters of New York State are renowned throughout the
Nation; their reputation is synonymous with excellence in the arduous
field of fire protection and prevention; and
WHEREAS, Since the early days of "teapot steamers," the volunteer
firefighter has been the cornerstone of our great Nation's efforts to
spare us from the ravages of fire; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is proud to commend Ex-Captain Harry C.
Stolberg upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition
after 30 years of dedicated service to the North Lindenhurst Fire
Department; and
WHEREAS, Ex-Captain Harry C. Stolberg will be honored at the Depart-
ment's 56th Annual Installation Dinner to be held at the Long Island
Marriott in Uniondale, New York on Saturday, March 23, 2013; and
WHEREAS, Ex-Captain Harry C. Stolberg joined the North Lindenhurst
Fire Department on September 12, 1983 and was assigned to Hook, Ladder
and Engine Company #3; and
WHEREAS, Upon completion of firematic training Ex-Captain Harry C.
Stolberg became an active member of the North Lindenhurst Fire Depart-
ment Rescue Squad; he became an Emergency Medical Technician in 1987 and
an Emergency Medical Technician Critical Care in 1989; and
WHEREAS, Ex-Captain Harry C. Stolberg has received numerous awards
reflecting his dedication to the North Lindenhurst Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, Ex-Captain Harry C. Stolberg was elected Lieutenant of the
Rescue Squad in 1989 and served in that position until 1991 when he was
elected Captain, serving until 1992; and
WHEREAS, Ex-Captain Harry C. Stolberg was instrumental in changing the
Rescue Squad from a Squad into a Company in 2000, enabling members to
join the Department to provide EMS service only; and
WHEREAS, Ex-Captain Harry C. Stolberg is an active member of the North
Lindenhurst Fire Department softball team and has been a key member of
the Town of Babylon Championship teams of 1993, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2002,
2003, 2004 and 2005; and
WHEREAS, Ex-Captain Harry C. Stolberg continues to serve as
Secretary/Treasurer of Hook, Ladder and Engine Company #3, a position he
has held for many years and, Harry and his wife Lynn continue to live in
North Lindenhurst enjoying their grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, Volunteer firefighters and fire departments not only provide
the critical service of fire protection but also engage in other activ-
ities of great benefit and importance to the communities they serve; and
WHEREAS, It takes a special dedication, a strong desire to help others
and a tireless sense of community to forsake precious time with family
and friends to respond to the signal that a neighbor is in need; Ex-Cap-
tain Harry C. Stolberg is such a firefighter; throughout 30 years of
devoted service, Ex-Captain Harry C. Stolberg has heroically performed,
above and beyond the call of duty, those responsibilities which define
the task of fire protection; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Ex-Captain Harry C. Stolberg for 30 years of distinguished
service to the North Lindenhurst Fire Department and his community; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Ex-Captain Harry C. Stolberg.
