LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Alison Ricchiuti and Andrew Fellus
of Herricks High School upon the occasion of joining the elite 1,000
point club in their varsity basketball careers

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body takes pleasure in honoring talented high
school athletes who distinguish themselves and their community through
outstanding athletic performance; and
WHEREAS, Athletic competition enhances the moral and physical develop-
ment of the young people of this State, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the value of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, imparting a desire for success and developing a sense of
fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, it is the intent of this Legislative Body to
congratulate Alison Ricchiuti and Andrew Fellus of Herricks High School
upon the occasion of joining the elite 1,000 point club in their varsity
basketball careers; and
WHEREAS, During the 2012-2013 girls and boys Herricks High School
basketball season, seniors Alison Ricchiuti and Andrew Fellus both
joined the elite 1,000 point club in their varsity basketball careers;
and
WHEREAS, Alison Ricchiuti began playing basketball as a third-grader
on her CYO team; she joined the Herricks High School varsity girls
basketball team as a freshman; and
WHEREAS, On her way to achieving the 1,000 point mark in her career,
Alison Ricchiuti averaged 22.5 points per game during the 2012-2013
basketball season; she garnered her 1,000th point on December 18, 2012,
in a game against Great Neck South High School; and
WHEREAS, Alison Ricchiuti has been a three-letter athlete through her
distinguished high school athletic career; she has lettered in soccer,
lacrosse and basketball; in basketball, she has been all-county twice
and all-conference once; and
WHEREAS, Andrew Fellus started his basketball career at the age of
five; he became a starter on the Herricks High School varsity boys
basketball team midway through his freshman year; and
WHEREAS, Joining the elite 1,000 point club on January 11, 2013,
against Bellemore Kennedy High School, Andrew Fellus averaged 26 points
per game during the season; he was all-county in 2011-2012 and ranked as
one of the top 100 basketball players in New York State; and
WHEREAS, Excellence and success in competitive sports can be achieved
only through strenuous practice; the dedication of Alison Ricchiuti and
Andrew Fellus to basketball is a year-round, everyday commitment; they
are highly focused and have developed a matchless work ethic; and
WHEREAS, The exemplary performance of both Alison Ricchiuti and Andrew
Fellus are reflective of their dedication, determination and personal
commitment; their achievements stand as a hallmark of what is best in
the families, schools and communities across New York State; now, there-
fore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Alison Ricchiuti and Andrew Fellus of Herricks High School
upon the occasion of joining the elite 1,000 point club in their varsity
basketball careers, and to commend them for the enduring honor they have
brought to their family, school and community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Alison Ricchiuti and Andrew Fellus.
