LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Raymone George upon the occasion of his
designation as a recipient of the 2012 Halo Hit Award by Nickelodeon

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Raymone George upon the occasion of his designation as a recipient of
the 2012 Halo Hit Award by Nickelodeon; and
WHEREAS, A member of CAMBA, Raymone George won the "Halo Hit" award, a
surprise award at the Nickelodeon Halo Awards; this ceremony is a cele-
bration of remarkable young people from across the country who are
making a difference in their communities; and
WHEREAS, A former gang member, Raymone now volunteers at CAMBA's
Beacon 269 program, teaching young children and teens how to dance; in
addition, he serves on the Advisory Group for the Flatbush Promise
Neighborhood Initiative and leads an award-winning step team, Colors of
Peace; and
WHEREAS, Raymone George discovered a passion for dancing at the Beacon
Center, an after school program that provides a safe haven in neighbor-
hoods where poverty and crime is prevalent; dancing allowed him to work
out his frustrations in a creative and healthy manner and he credits it
for keeping him out of trouble; and
WHEREAS, Raymone George currently spends time choreographing and
coaching the Center's 10-14 year old dance troupe and works one-on-one
with kids who are struggling; his HALO match, Ne-Yo, supports Boys &
Girls Clubs of America and founded the Compound Foundation which is
committed to increasing awareness about the status of children in the
child welfare system; and
WHEREAS, The organization also supports and partners with residential
care facilities and independent group homes through programs aimed at
teaching entrepreneurship and life skills that will empower them to
become productive, successful, and independent adults; and
WHEREAS, A true asset to society, Raymone George's distinguished
record merits the recognition and respectful tribute of this Legislative
Body; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Raymone George upon the occasion of his designation as a recipient
of the 2012 Halo Hit Award by Nickelodeon; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Raymone George.
