LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Enda Lally upon the occasion of his
designation as Deputy Marshal of the 20th Annual Bay Ridge St. Patrick's
Day Parade on March 24, 2013

WHEREAS, St. Patrick's Day is a time for people of all nationalities and
generations to assemble and celebrate the rich culture and heritage of
the Irish people throughout the United States; and
WHEREAS, A St. Patrick's Day parade reflects and records the ongoing
history of the United States and Ireland, and provides opportunity for
people of all generations to assemble in ethnic pride and pageantry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Enda
Lally upon the occasion of his designation as Deputy Marshal of the 20th
Annual Bay Ridge St. Patrick's Day Parade to be held on Sunday, March
24, 2013; and
WHEREAS, Enda Lally was born in Gort, County Galway; he spent his
early childhood in Galway and then in 1987, along with his parents,
James and Margaret Lally, and his younger sister and brother, he immi-
grated to New York; and
WHEREAS, Enda Lally is a graduate from Fort Hamilton High School; he
then attended Ulster County College, where he competed in the Division A
Soccer National Championships; and
WHEREAS, Not forgetting his Gaelic roots, Enda Lally has been playing
Gaelic Football and Hurling from an early age and has played on many
levels and teams; he won a hurling championship with Galway and has also
won numerous New York championships while playing with Celtics and the
Senior Kerry Team; and
WHEREAS, Enda Lally's greatest win was this past year when he led the
Brooklyn Shamrocks to win the Junior Championship; he is not only the
captain and player for the Brooklyn Shamrocks, but he is also a commit-
tee member; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Karen, and their two
children, Jack and Molly, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of
his life and rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, Enda Lally is the owner and operator of Galway Bay
Construction, a general contracting business; and
WHEREAS, A fitting choice for Deputy Marshal of the 20th Annual Bay
Ridge St. Patrick's Day Parade, Enda Lally embodies the spirit and the
cherished ideals and values of Irish-Americans of this great State and
Nation; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Enda Lally upon the occasion of his designation as Deputy Marshal
of the 20th Annual Bay Ridge St. Patrick's Day Parade; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Enda Lally.
