 ATIVE  RESOLUTION  commending  the  Food Bank of the Southern Tier
 he occasion of  the  unveiling  of  its  new  facility  in  Elmira
 s, New York

 S,  It  is  the  custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
 organizations and individuals who devote their  energy,  resources
 houghtful  care  to improving the quality and character of life in
 communities; and
 EAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its  long-
 ng  traditions,  this  Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
 od Bank of the Southern Tier upon the occasion of the unveiling of
 w facility in Elmira Heights, New York; and
 EAS, Upon reaching the limits of their facility, the Food Bank  of
 uthern Tier moved to a larger 65,000 square foot facility in near-
 ira Heights, New York, on Thursday, March 10, 2011; and
 EAS,  For over 30 years, this vital Food Bank has been the leading
 -relief organization in the Southern Tier region; and
 EAS, The Food Bank's network of over  185  hunger-relief  agencies
 es  food  pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, residential programs,
 re programs, senior  feeding  programs  and  other  not-for-profit
 zations  located throughout the six county service area of Broome,
 g, Schuyler, Steuben, Tioga, and Tompkins; and
 EAS, The new facility includes a drive-in commercial  freezer  and
 erator;  through  this  facility, food distribution has grown from
 llion pounds in 1997 to nearly 7 million pounds today; and
 EAS, The success of the Food Bank  of  the  Southern  Tier  is  in
   correlation  to  the  efforts of its volunteers and staff, whose
 ement is, and always has  been,  characterized  by  an  impressive
 ment,  an  unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of
 ence in all endeavors on behalf of the Food  Bank  and  the  popu-
  it serves; and
 EAS,  Organizations  of such singular distinction as the Food Bank
  Southern Tier provide a model for enhancing the quality  of  life
  community and, as such, merit the grateful praise of the citizens
  State of New York; now, therefore, be it
