LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION urging the New York State Congressional deleg-
ation to maintain the essential air service subsidy for rural airports

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to urge the New York
State Congressional delegation to maintain the essential air service
subsidy for rural airports; and
WHEREAS, Two bills are currently before the United States House of
Representatives and Senate that would eliminate or seriously reduce
scheduled airline service at many rural airports throughout the State of
New York by eliminating or reducing the essential air service subsidies;
and
WHEREAS, The elimination of the essential air service subsidy to rural
airports would cause the loss of full-time employment for employees of
air carriers, car rental companies and the Transportation Security
Administration at these rural airports; and
WHEREAS, The loss of essential air service will severely curtail the
ability of the residents of rural areas currently served by essential
services to travel via air to visit family and friends, or travel for
vacation or business; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the New York State Congressional delegation be and
hereby is respectfully memorialized by this Legislative Body to maintain
the essential air service subsidy for rural airports; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to each member of the Congressional delegation from the State of
New York.
