BILL NUMBER:S1025 TITLE OF BILL: An act requiring the placement of the New York State "I Love NY" logo and website link on websites maintained by and advertisements or public service announcements disseminated by certain agencies, departments and authorities PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL: This bill seeks to increase tourism through New York State. to increase traffic to the state tourism website by placing websites, advertisements and public service announcements. Specifically, the bill seeks the web address on various SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS: Section one of the bill requires that the Internet website address for the state tourism website, and the "I Love NY" logo and website link, be displayed in an easily readable manner on the websites of the department of agriculture and markets, department of environmental conservation, office of parks, recreation and historic preservation, New York State council on the arts, Metropolitan Transportation Authority, the thruway authority, the canal corporation, the Olympic regional development corporation, the Adirondack park agency, Battery Park City, the Hudson River greenway, Hudson River Park, and tourism promotional agencies which receive state matching funds. Section two requires those same agencies I departments and tourism promotional agencies display the "I Love NY" logo and website address in advertisements or public service announcements when such advertisements or public service announcements are related to tourism. JUSTIFICATION: New York annually funds and produces hundreds of television, print and Internet web advertisements and announcements. At little or no cost the "I Love NY" logo and web address Would be incorporated in other ways. It will enhance top of mind awareness. Additionally, it can amount to free tourism advertising in multiple markets in cases where New York media markets overlap and cover other state. Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Ohio and Vermont are each serviced by New York television stations in certain geographic locations. Furthermore, by displaying the I Love NY logo and website link on other NYS websites, we can greatly enhance the traffic flow to the I Love NY website at a very minimal cost. The result would be an increase in tourism spending for the State and a more user friendly experience for the tourist. PRIOR LEGISLATIVE HISTORY: S.8023 of 2005/2006 2009/2010: Passed Assembly & Died in Senate: Referred to Cultural Affairs, Tourism, Parks and Recreation. 2011/2012: S.2342/A.7102. Assembly advanced to third reading. Amended. FISCAL IMPLICATIONS: Undetermined, however an increase in travel to the State will offset any costs incurred. EFFECTIVE DATE: Immediately.

AN ACT requiring the placement of the New York State "I Love NY" logo and website link on websites maintained by and advertisements or public service announcements disseminated by certain agencies, depart ments and authorities THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Any website maintained by the department of agriculture and markets, the department of environmental conservation, the office of parks, recreation and historic preservation, the New York state council on the arts, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, the thruway authority, the canal corporation, the Olympic regional development corporation, the Adirondack park agency, Battery Park City, the Hudson River greenway or the Hudson River park or by tourism promotional agen cies which received state matching funds shall display the "I Love NY" logo and the website link to I Love NY in an easily readable manner.
S 2. Any visual advertisements or public service announcements relat ing to New York state tourism, including print, television, and internet media, disseminated by the department of agriculture and markets, the department of environmental conservation, the office of parks, recre ation and historic preservation, the New York state council on the arts, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, the thruway authority, the canal corporation, the Olympic regional development corporation, the Adirondack park agency, Battery Park City, the Hudson River greenway or the Hudson River park shall have placed within such media, and main tained for a duration so as to be easily recognized and read, the logo "I Love NY" as licensed by the department of economic development, as well as the internet address of the official New York state tourism EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. S. 1025 2 website. Such placement must be incorporated in such a way that does not detract from or conflict with the primary focus of the advertisement or public service announcement.
S 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
