TITLE OF BILL: An act to grant Cole Samsel eligibility for permanent
appointment as a police officer with the police department of the
village of Oxford, in the county of Chenango
PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL:
Grants eligibility to Cole Samsel for permanent appointment as a
police officer with the village of Oxford police department even
though he is over the age of 35.
SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS:
Section 1. Notwithstanding any provision of paragraph (a) of
subdivision 1 or subdivision 4 of section 58 of the civil service law
to the contrary, Cole Samsel, who previously received a permanent
appointment in the competitive class of civil service as a police
officer with the sheriff s department of the county of Chenango,
resigned from such position after several years, has been absent from
such position for more than 30 days and is over the age of 35, shall
be eligible for provisional or permanent appointment in the
competitive class of the civil service as a police officer of the
police department of the village of Oxford, in the county of Chenango,
if he shall, at the time if his appointment, be 40 years of age or
younger.

AN ACT to grant Cole Samsel eligibility for permanent appointment as a
police officer with the police department of the village of Oxford, in
the county of Chenango
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Notwithstanding any provision of paragraph (a) of subdivi-
sion 1 or subdivision 4 of section 58 of the civil service law to the
contrary, Cole Samsel, who previously received a permanent appointment
in the competitive class of civil service as a police officer with the
sheriff's department of the county of Chenango, resigned from such posi-
tion after several years, has been absent from such position for more
than 30 days and is over the age of 35, shall be eligible for provi-
sional or permanent appointment in the competitive class of the civil
service as a police officer of the police department of the village of
Oxford, in the county of Chenango, if he shall, at the time of his
appointment, be 40 years of age or younger.
S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets
[ ] is old law to be omitted.

cers.
