Section 3 -- Effective date.
Many New Yorkers serve in the US military, reserves, or National Guard, and some of these New Yorkers are even serving our nation in very dangerous locations like Iraq and Afghanistan. If enacted into law, this bill will allow New Yorkers to show our support for these brave men and women through the "Support Our Troops" distinctive license plate and also raise money for services for our men and women in uniform.
Twenty-three states currently have "Support Our Troops" distinctive license plates, and many other states are in the process of creating these plates. New York should join these other states in creating these distinctive license plates.
