BILL NUMBER:S1895 TITLE OF BILL: An act in relation to authorizing the village of Lyons, county of Wayne to hire Brian M. Ritchie to fill a full-time competitive position with the village of Lyons police department PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL: This legislation authorizes the appointment of Brian M. Ritchie , of the village of Lyons, to a full- time competitive position as a police officer of the village. SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS: Section 1 Notwithstanding section 58 of the Civil Service Law, the village of Lyons is authorized to appoint Brian M. Ritchie to a full- time competitive position as a police officer of the village. Section 2 Effective date immediately. JUSTIFICATION: This bill will allow Brian M. Ritchie, currently a part- time police officer for the village of Lyons, to be appointed in the competitive class of civil service as a full-time police officer in the village, notwithstanding the 35 year old limitation set forth in section 58 of the Civil Service Law. This act shall take effect immediately. PRIOR LEGISLATIVE HISTORY: New bill. FISCAL IMPLICATIONS: None to the State. EFFECTIVE DATE: This act shall take effect immediately.

AN ACT in relation to authorizing the village of Lyons, county of Wayne to hire Brian M. Ritchie to fill a full-time competitive position with the village of Lyons police department
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Notwithstanding section 58 of the civil service law or any other law to the contrary, the village of Lyons, county of Wayne, is hereby authorized and directed upon the approval of the village board of trustees and the police chief of the village of Lyons, to appoint Brian M. Ritchie, who is currently employed as a part-time police officer with the police department of the village of Lyons, to a full-time compet itive position as a police officer with the police department of such village.
