BILL NUMBER:S245 TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend part W3 of chapter 62 of the laws of 2003, amending the alcoholic beverage control law relating to sales for off-premises consumption, in relation to making certain provisions permanent PURPOSE: To make permanent the Sunday sale of liquor and wine for off premises consumption. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 8 of Part W3 of chapter 62 of the laws of 2003 is amended to make permanent the Sunday sale of liquor and wine. JUSTIFICATION: In 2003 the Sunday sale of wine and liquor for off premises consumption was included in the budget. This law is set to sunset on May 15, 2008. It has been widely popular with both store owners and with consumers. This legislation rightfully seeks to make this permanent. BILL HISTORY: S.8270/A.11911 of 2006; Referred to Senate Rules. AN ACT to amend part W3 of chapter 62 of the laws of 2003, amending the
alcoholic beverage control law relating to sales for off-premises
consumption, in relation to making certain provisions permanent
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Section 8 of part W3 of chapter 62 of the laws of 2003,
amending the alcoholic beverage control law relating to sales for off-
premises consumption, as amended by section 1 of part NN-1 of chapter 57
of the laws of 2008, is amended to read as follows:
S 8. This act shall take effect immediately; provided, however, that
[section] SECTIONS ONE, TWO, THREE, FOUR, SIX AND seven of this act
shall expire and be deemed repealed 5 years after such date.
S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
