BILL NUMBER:S2610 TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the real property law, in relation to filing of maps in county clerk offices PURPOSE: To authorize county clerks to establish a system to receive and retain maps utilizing electronic means. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1 adds a new subdivision, 2a, to the real property tax law to allow county clerks to adopt systems to receive and retain maps using electronic means. EXISTING LAW: Real property tax law section 334 only allows the filing of maps in hard-copy format - linen, tracing cloth or mylar. JUSTIFICATION: County clerks across New York State now maintain civil and criminal

SEWARD, FUNKE, MARCHIONE, ORTT, RITCHIE, SERINO -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Judiciary AN ACT to amend the real property law, in relation to filing of maps in county clerk offices THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 334 of the real property law is amended by adding a new subdivision 2-a to read as follows: 2-A. NOTWITHSTANDING ANY OTHER PROVISIONS IN THIS ARTICLE, A COUNTY CLERK MAY ADOPT A SYSTEM TO RECEIVE AND RETAIN MAPS UTILIZING AN ELEC- TRO-MECHANICAL, ELECTRONIC OR ANY OTHER METHOD THEY DEEM SUITABLE FOR RECEIVING AND RETAINING MAPS.
