BILL NUMBER:S2790 TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the highway law, in relation to expanding that portion of the state highway system designated as the "Shawangunk East Wine Trail" PURPOSE: Over the past few years, the west bank of the Hudson River has experienced new growth in the number of wineries and vineyards that are located in the counties of Orange and Ulster. This bill expands the state routes that are included on the already existing Shawangunk East Wine Trail. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1: Amends subdivision 6-a of Section 343-k of the highway law so that route 17 from its intersection with route 94 in the town of Chester to route 32 in the unincorporated community of Central Valley within the town of Woodbury, route 32 to route 94 in the unincorporated community of Vails Gate within the town of New Windsor, route 94 to route 9-W in the town of New Windsor, route 9-W to routes 44 and 55 in the unincorporated community of Highland within the town of Lloyd, and routes 44 and 55 to its intersection with route 208 in the town of Gardiner shall be designated and known as the "Shawangunk East Wine Trail". Subdivision 6-a of section 343-k of the highway law, as added by chapter 459 of the laws of 2007, is amended to read as follows: 6-a. All that portion of the state highway system constituting route [94] 17 from its intersection with route [208] 94 in [Washingtonville] THE TOWN OF CHESTER to ROUTE 32 IN THE UNINCORPORATED COMMUNITY OF CENTRAL VALLEY WITHIN THE TOWN OF WOODBURY, ROUTE 32 TO ROUTE 94 IN THE UNINCORPORATED COMMUNITY OF VAILS GATE WITHIN THE TOWN OF NEW WINDSOR, ROUTE 94 TO route 9-W in THE TOWN OF New Windsor, route 9-W to routes 44 and 55 in THE UNINCORPORATED COMMUNITY OF Highland WITHIN THE TOWN OF LLOYD, and routes 44 and 55 to its intersection with route 208 in THE TOWN OF Gardiner shall be designated and known as the "Shawangunk East Wine Trail". S 2. The commissioner of transportation shall provide for the instal- lation and maintenance of adequate signing of the state highway system as designated pursuant to section one of this act. However, to avoid confusion and to limit any possible disruption of commerce, the desig- nation called for pursuant to section one of this act shall be one of ceremonial nature and the official name of such state highways shall not be changed as a result of this act.
