  ty and Military Affairs

AN ACT to amend the civil service law, in relation to veterans'  credits
  for civil service appointments and promotions

  THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section 1. Subparagraphs 1 and 2 of paragraph (a) of subdivision 2  of
section 85 of the civil service law, as added by chapter 790 of the laws
of 1958, are amended to read as follows:
  (1)  Disabled  veterans  shall  be  entitled  to receive [ten] FIFTEEN
points additional in a competitive examination for original  appointment
and  [five] SEVEN AND ONE-HALF points additional credit in a competitive
examination for promotion, and
  (2) Non-disabled veterans shall be  entitled  to  receive  [five]  TEN
points  additional  credit  in  a  competitive  examination for original
appointment and [two and one-half] FIVE points additional  credit  in  a
competitive examination for promotion.
  S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.

AN ACT to amend the civil service law, in relation to veterans'  credits
  for civil service appointments and promotions

  THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section 1. Subparagraphs 1 and 2 of paragraph (a) of subdivision 2  of
section 85 of the civil service law, as added by chapter 790 of the laws
of 1958, are amended to read as follows:

  S  2. This act shall take effect on the first of January next succeed-
ing the date upon which the people shall approve and ratify an amendment
to section 6 of article V of the constitution by a majority of the elec-
tors voting thereon relating to appointments  and  promotions  in  civil
service.
