TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the executive law, in relation to the establishment of a home visitation program for elderly and invalid victims of violent crime
PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL: To create a volunteer program of home visitation to elderly and invalid victims of violent crime, in consultation with the NYS Office for the Aging.
SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS: Section 1: Amends subdivision 9 of section 623 of the Executive Law. Provides that the New York State Office for the Aging shall be consulted in order to promote the establishment of a volunteer program of home visitation to elderly and invalid victims of violent crime.
Section 2: Effective Date.

JUSTIFICATION: This bill would enable the State Office for the Aging to be consulted in the establishment and maintenance of a special investigative unit that expedites claims of senior citizens and special emergency situations involving elderly and invalid victims of violent crimes. This unit also would be charged with the establishment of a volunteer home visitation program for these victims.
