BILL NUMBER:S3423 TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the highway law, in relation to designating a portion of the state highway system as the "Susan Foster Myers Memorial Bridge" PURPOSE: To designate the bridges on interstate route 86 crossing state route 275, in the town of Friendship, county of Allegany, as the "Susan Foster Myers Memorial Bridge." SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1. Adds a new subdivision (d) to Section 344 of the highway law designating the bridges across state route two hundred seventy-five on the eastbound and westbound lanes of interstate route eighty-six, in the town of Friendship, county of Allegany, as the "Susan Foster Myers Memorial Bridge." Section 2. Provides that the Commissioner of the Department of Transportation shall provide for the installation and maintenance of adequate signing of the state highway system as designated pursuant to section one of this act. To avoid confusion and to limit any possible disruption of commerce, the designation called for pursuant to section one of this act shall be of a ceremonial nature and the official name

YOUNG -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Transportation AN ACT to amend the highway law, in relation to designating a portion of the state highway system as the "Susan Foster Myers Memorial Bridge" THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The highway law is amended by adding a new section 344-d to read as follows: S 344-D. PORTION OF THE STATE HIGHWAY SYSTEM TO BE DESIGNATED AS THE "SUSAN FOSTER MYERS MEMORIAL BRIDGE". THE BRIDGES ACROSS STATE ROUTE TWO HUNDRED SEVENTY-FIVE ON THE EASTBOUND AND WESTBOUND LANES OF INTERSTATE ROUTE EIGHTY-SIX, IN THE TOWN OF FRIENDSHIP, COUNTY OF ALLEGANY, SHALL EACH BE DESIGNATED AND KNOWN AS THE "SUSAN FOSTER MYERS MEMORIAL BRIDGE". S 2. The commissioner of transportation shall provide for the instal- lation and maintenance of adequate signing of the state highway system as designated pursuant to section one of this act. However, to avoid confusion and to limit any possible disruption of commerce, the desig- nation called for pursuant to section one of this act shall be one of ceremonial nature and the official name of such bridge shall not be changed as a result of this act.
