TITLE OF BILL:
An act
to amend chapter 483
of the laws of 2010, amending the environmental
conservation law relating to hunting by crossbow,
in relation to making
technical corrections thereto

PURPOSE:
To change the title of Chap. 483 of the laws of 2010 to the
"Robert R. Ripberger crossbow legalization act".

JUSTIFICATION:
Robert R. Ripberger, who passed away on May 27th, 2010,
was an avid central New York sportsman, conservationist, and lifelong
volunteer. In 2007, Bob was honored with the united State's EPA's
Environmental Quality Award and in November 2009, the Carpenter's
Brook Fish Hatchery established a fund to honor his work. Amongst his
many contributions to his community, as well as sporting and civic
organizations, Bob fought diligently for the legalization of
crossbows in New York state. Unfortunately, Bob passed away before he
could see his dream realized. Thus, it is only fitting that we honor
his legacy by re-naming the crossbow legalization legislation after
him.

EFFECTIVE DATE:
On the same date and in the same manner as chapter 483 of the
laws of 2010.

AN ACT to amend chapter 483 of the laws of 2010, amending  the  environ
 mental  conservation  law relating to hunting by crossbow, in relation
 to making technical corrections thereto
 THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

 

Section  1.

Section 1 of chapter 483 of the laws of 2010, amending the
 environmental conservation law relating to hunting by crossbow is renum
 bered section 1-a and a new section 1 is added to read as follows:

 SECTION 1. THIS ACT SHALL BE KNOWN AND MAY BE CITED AS THE "ROBERT  R.
 RIPBERGER CROSSBOW LEGALIZATION ACT".
 

S  2.  This  act  shall  take  effect on the same date and in the same
 manner as chapter 483 of the laws of 2010, as amended; takes effect.
 EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets
 [ ] is old law to be omitted.
