BILL NUMBER:S3820 TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the highway law, in relation to designating a portion of the state highway system as the "Marine Captain Eric A. Jones Memorial Highway" PURPOSE: Designates a portion of the state highway system, in the town of Pound Ridge, county of Westchester, as the "Marine Captain Eric A. Jones Memorial Highway." SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section one of the bill amends the highway law by adding a new section 344-d that designates all that portion of the state highway system constituting Route 137 in the town of Pound Ridge, in the county of Westchester, beginning at the intersection of Route 137 and Westchester Ave, and continuing south along Route 137 to the New York-Connecticut border, as the "Marine Captain Eric A. Jones Memorial Highway." Section two states the commissioner of transportation shall provide for the installation of appropriate signage, and that the designation pursuant to section one of this act shall be of a ceremonial nature.

Jones Memorial Highway" THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The highway law is amended by adding a new section 344-d to read as follows: S 344-D. PORTION OF THE STATE HIGHWAY SYSTEM TO BE DESIGNATED AS THE "MARINE CAPTAIN ERIC A. JONES MEMORIAL HIGHWAY". ALL THAT PORTION OF THE STATE HIGHWAY SYSTEM CONSTITUTING STATE ROUTE ONE HUNDRED THIRTY-SEVEN IN THE TOWN OF POUND RIDGE, COUNTY OF WESTCHESTER, BEGINNING AT THE INTERSECTION OF STATE ROUTE ONE HUNDRED THIRTY-SEVEN AND WESTCHESTER AVENUE, CONTINUING IN A GENERALLY SOUTHERLY DIRECTION ON STATE ROUTE ONE HUNDRED THIRTY-SEVEN, AND TERMINATING AT THE NEW YORK AND CONNECTICUT STATE BOUNDARY, SHALL BE DESIGNATED AND KNOWN AS THE "MARINE CAPTAIN ERIC A. JONES MEMORIAL HIGHWAY". S 2. The commissioner of transportation shall provide for the instal- lation and maintenance of adequate signing of the state highway system as designated pursuant to section one of this act. However, to avoid confusion and to limit any possible disruption of commerce, the desig- nations called for pursuant to section one of this act shall be of cere- monial nature and the official name of state route 137 shall not be changed as a result of this act.
