BILL NUMBER:S3965 TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the labor law, in relation to enhancement of provisions relating to child performer employment permits PURPOSE OF BILL: This bill will expand the effective period for child performer employment permits granted by the Commissioner of Labor from six months to one year. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1 of the bill would amend Labor Law § 151(1) to extend the period of validity for a child performer employment permit from six months to one year. Section 2 of the bill would establish an immediate effective date. EXISTING LAW: Paragraph Labor Law § 151(1)(b) makes an employment permit for a child performer valid for six months.

ROBACH -- (at request of the Department of Labor) -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Labor AN ACT to amend the labor law, in relation to enhancement of provisions relating to child performer employment permits THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Paragraph (b) of subdivision 1 of section 151 of the labor law, as amended by chapter 35 of the laws of 2004, is amended to read as follows: (b) A child performer shall be required to have an employment permit. Employment permits for child performers shall be valid for [six months] ONE YEAR from the date of issuance. S 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD09890-01-1
