TITLE OF BILL:
An act
to amend the state law, in relation to making sweet corn the state
vegetable

PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL:
To establish sweet corn as the official vegetable of New York state.

SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS:
Amends the State law by adding a new
section 89 designating sweet corn as the official vegetable of the
state of New York.

JUSTIFICATION:
Sweet corn is one of the leading agricultural produce in the state of
New York producing $70 Million in cash receipts in 2005 and is the
lead fresh produce vegetable sold in New York state.

FISCAL IMPLICATIONS:
None.

EFFECTIVE DATE:
This act shall take effect immediately.

AN ACT to amend the state law, in relation  to  making  sweet  corn  the
 state vegetable
 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

 

Section 1. The state law is amended by adding a new section 89 to read
 as follows:

 

S 89. STATE VEGETABLE. SWEET CORN SHALL BE THE OFFICIAL  VEGETABLE  OF
 THE STATE OF NEW YORK.
 

S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
