BILL NUMBER:S4495 TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the highway law, in relation to designating a portion of the state highway system as the "Specialist David R. Fahey Jr. Memorial Bridge" PURPOSE: Designates a portion of the state highway system as the "Specialist David R. Fahey Jr. Memorial Bridge." SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section one of the bill amends the highway law by adding a new section 344-d that designates the bridge across the New Croton reservoir on Route 129 in the town of Yorktown, in the county of Westchester, as the "Specialist David R. Fahey Jr. Memorial Bridge." Section two states the commissioner of transportation shall provide for the installation of appropriate signage and that the designation pursuant to section one of this act shall be of a ceremonial nature. Section three contains the effective date.

MURPHY -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Transportation AN ACT to amend the highway law, in relation to designating a portion of the state highway system as the "Specialist David R. Fahey Jr. Memori- al Bridge" THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The highway law is amended by adding a new section 344-d to read as follows: S 344-D. PORTION OF THE STATE HIGHWAY SYSTEM TO BE DESIGNATED AS THE "SPECIALIST DAVID R. FAHEY JR. MEMORIAL BRIDGE". THE BRIDGE ACROSS THE NEW CROTON RESERVOIR ON STATE ROUTE ONE HUNDRED TWENTY-NINE, IN THE TOWN OF YORKTOWN, COUNTY OF WESTCHESTER, SHALL BE DESIGNATED AND KNOWN AS THE "SPECIALIST DAVID R. FAHEY JR. MEMORIAL BRIDGE". S 2. The commissioner of transportation shall provide for the instal- lation and maintenance of adequate signing of the state highway system as designated pursuant to section one of this act. However, to avoid confusion and to limit any possible disruption of commerce, the desig- nation called for pursuant to section one of this act shall be one of ceremonial nature and the official name of such bridge shall not be changed as a result of this act.
