BILL NUMBER:S4600B TITLE OF BILL: An act authorizing the assessor of the town of Islip to accept an application for exemption from real property taxes from Plumbers Local Union No. 200 Apprenticeship Training Fund for certain parcels of land located in the town of Islip PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL: To grant the town assessor for the town of Islip the authority to exempt Plumbers Local Union No. 200 Apprenticeship Training Fund, a not-for-profit, from liability for payment of real property taxes due on the 2008-2009 and 2009-2010 assessment rolls. SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS: Section One authorizes and directs the assessor of the town of Islip to accept an application from the plumbers Local Union No. 200 Apprenticeship Training Fund for exemption from real property taxes pursuant to Section 420-a of the real property tax law for the assessment roll as completed in 2008-2009 and 2009-2010 for their property located in Bohemia. Upon satisfaction that this organization would have otherwise been entitled to said exemption, the assessor may emit this exemption from all taxation beginning with respect to these rolls. If exemption is granted, the church may be refunded any taxes paid and any taxes, fines, penalties, liens or interest unpaid may be cancelled through the sole discretion of the town board. Section Two is the effective date. JUSTIFICATION: Plumbers Local Union No. 200 Apprenticeship Training Fund purchased their property at 370 Central Avenue in Bohemia, New York, after the taxable status date for the 2009-2010 assessment roll. This bill would authorize the assessor of the town of Islip to accept application from the plumbers Local Union No. 200 Apprenticeship Training Fund for exemption from real property taxes pursuant to Section 420-a of the real property tax law for the 2008-2009 and 2009-2010 assessment rolls. PRIOR LEGISLATIVE HISTORY: New Bill. FISCAL IMPLICATIONS: None to the State. EFFECTIVE DATE: This act shall take effect immediately.

AN ACT authorizing the assessor of the town of Islip to accept an appli-
cation for exemption from real property taxes from Plumbers Local
Union No. 200 Apprenticeship Training Fund for certain parcels of land
located in the town of Islip
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Notwithstanding any other provision of any law to the
contrary, the assessor of the town of Islip is hereby authorized to
accept from Plumbers Local Union No. 200 Apprenticeship Training Fund,
an application for exemption from real property taxes pursuant to
section 420-a of the real property tax law for 2009-2010 and 2010-2011
assessment rolls for the parcel located at 370 Central Avenue, Bohemia,
New York, 11716, also known as Lot 4.3 of Block 2 of Section 174 of
District 500. If accepted, the application shall be reviewed as if it
had been received on or before the taxable status date established for
such rolls.
If satisfied that Plumbers Local Union No. 200 Apprenticeship Training
Fund, would otherwise be entitled to such exemption if it had filed an

application for exemption by the appropriate taxable status date, the
assessor, upon approval by the town board, may grant exemption from
taxation beginning with the date of acquisition of the property by Plum-
bers Local Union No. 200 Apprenticeship Training Fund, and make appro-
priate correction of these subject rolls. If such exemption is granted
and if Plumbers Local Union No. 200 Apprenticeship Training Fund, shall
have paid any tax with respect to such subject rolls, the governing body
or tax department may, in its sole discretion, provide for the refund of
those taxes paid and cancel taxes, fines, penalties or interest remain-
ing unpaid.
S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
