BILL NUMBER:S4659 TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend chapter 468 of the laws of 2006, amending the highway law relating to access to a certain parkway by certain construction vehicles during a period of landfill remediation, in relation to extending the effectiveness thereof SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: This bill extends for five years, until August 16, 2016, the effectiveness of chapter 468 of the laws of 2006, which authorized the use of the Korean War Veterans Parkway during the remediation of the Brookfield landfill on Staten Island by certain construction vehicles owned and/or operated by the Department of Environmental Protection of the City New York. REASONS FOR SUPPORT: The Brookfield landfill remediation project is a joint project between the New York City Department of Environmental Protection and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation to clean up the former site of a toxic landfill. This project will require over 120 dump truck trips per day to the site. In order to avoid congestion on local roads, this bill would extend the authorization for certain construction vehicles owned and/or operated by the Department of Environmental Protection to use the

LANZA -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Transportation AN ACT to amend chapter 468 of the laws of 2006, amending the highway law relating to access to a certain parkway by certain construction vehicles during a period of landfill remediation, in relation to extending the effectiveness thereof THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 2 of chapter 468 of the laws of 2006, amending the highway law relating to access to a certain parkway by certain construction vehicles during a period of landfill remediation, is amended to read as follows: S 2. This act shall take effect immediately and shall expire and be deemed repealed [5] 10 years after such date. S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
