TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the executive law, in relation to adding the Wallkill river to the definition of inland waterways

PURPOSE: This legislation designates the Wallkill river in Orange County as an inland waterway.

SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1 amends Subdivision 4 of Section 911 of the Executive Law by adding the Wallkill river in Orange County to the list of water bodies defined as inland waterways.

JUSTIFICATION: By defining the Wallkill river in Orange County as an inland waterway, the municipalities and organizations along its banks will be eligible for Department of State and Environmental Protection Fund waterfront revitalization grants. The opportunity to apply for and possibly receive grant monies is of considerable importance to the revitalization efforts of the Wallkill river region in Orange County.

LARKIN -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Finance AN ACT to amend the executive law, in relation to adding the Wallkill river to the definition of inland waterways THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Paragraph (b) of subdivision 4 of section 911 of the execu- tive law, as separately amended by chapters 9 and 184 of the laws of 2010, is amended to read as follows: (b) the state's major rivers comprised of the Ausable, Black, Boquet, Canisteo, Chaumont (including Chaumont bay), Chemung, Cohocton, Dela- ware, Deer, Genesee, Grasse, Hudson north of the federal dam at Troy, Indian, Little (in the Adirondack park), Little Salmon (including north and south branches), Mad, Mettowee, Mohawk, Oswegatchie, Racquette, Salmon, Saranac, Susquehanna, Tioga [and], Tioughnioga AND WALLKILL rivers, and the north and middle branches of the Moose river; S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
