TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the executive law, in relation to adding the Wallkill river to the definition of inland waterways
PURPOSE: This legislation designates the Wallkill river in Orange County as an inland waterway.
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1 amends Subdivision 4 of Section 911 of the Executive Law by adding the Wallkill river in Orange County to the list of water bodies defined as inland waterways.
JUSTIFICATION: By defining the Wallkill river in Orange County as an inland waterway, the municipalities and organizations along its banks will be eligible for Department of State and Environmental Protection Fund waterfront revitalization grants. The opportunity to apply for and possibly receive grant monies is of considerable importance to the revitalization efforts of the Wallkill river region in Orange County.
