TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the general municipal law, in relation to increasing the maximum prize awards allowed in bingo games
PURPOSE: Raise minimum limits on bingo games run by charitable organizations.
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Increases maximum bingo prize from $1,000.00 to $3,000.00 and aggregate total prize from $3,000.00 to $6,000.00.
JUSTIFICATION: In these times of fiscal restraint not for profit organizations and charitable organizations need alternative methods of fundraising. Increasing the bingo prizes will enable those organizations to make more money from bingo by charging more based upon the larger prize award.
