Memo

BILL NUMBER:S5026

TITLE OF BILL:

An act to amend the general municipal law, in relation to authorizing the lease of space on sports field fence in the town of Sweden, Monroe County

PURPOSE:

To authorize the Town of Sweden to lease space on the fences at Sweden Town Park to a not for profit corporation or organization, with the revenue used for the sole purpose of the care of the Sweden Town Park.

SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:

Section 1: Authorize the Town of Sweden to lease space on the fences at Sweden Town Park to a not for profit corporation or organization, with the revenue used for the sole purpose of the care of the Sweden Town Park.

Section 2: Sets forth the effective date

JUSTIFICATION:

Like all municipalities, the Town of Sweden is looking for new and innovative ways to provide better and more economical services to Town residents. Leasing advertising or sponsorship space on the fence at the Town park sports field to not for profit groups will produce additional revenue that can then be used for the care and maintenance of the town park as a whole, ensuring its continued availability for the enjoyment and outdoor recreation of residents. Section 77-e of the General Municipal law allows Yates County to lease space on its baseball field fences in a similar manner.

LEGISLATIVE HISTORY:

This is a new bill

FISCAL IMPLICATIONS:

None

EFFECTIVE DATE:

This act shall take effect immediately.
