BILL NUMBER:S5259

TITLE OF BILL: An act to authorize the town of Islip to transfer ownership of certain lands to the village of Islandia

PURPOSE: This bill authorizes the town of Islip to convey a parcel of land in the town to the village of Islandia for the purpose of creating a village park.

SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: The Town is authorized by this bill to convey the property of 6.86 acres on the easterly side of Nichols Road and the southerly side of South Connecting Road in the town of Islip in Suffolk county to the village of Islandia.

JUSTIFICATION: This bill would enable the Village of Islandia to develop a Village Park. The land would be transferred from the town of Islip at no cost to the Village, but the Village would be required to bear all costs associated with the development of the park. The Village of Islandia currently does not have a local park and residents have limited recreational opportunities. This land transfer, resulting in the establishment of a local park, will improve the quality of life for all residents.

LEGISLATIVE HISTORY: New Bill.

FISCAL IMPLICATIONS: None.

EFFECTIVE DATE: This act shall take effect immediately.
