TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to terminal leave

PURPOSE:

To provide uniformed members of the NYC Department of Correction and the NYC Department of Sanitation the option of taking a monetary payment in lieu of terminal leave

SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:

Section one amends the administrative code of the City of New York through the addition of a new section 9-134 which relates to the terminal leave of uniformed personnel in the NYC Department of Correction.

Section two amends the administrative code of the City of New York through the addition of a new section 16-141 which relates to the terminal leave of uniformed personnel in the NYC Department of Sanitation.

Section three provides that this act shall take effect immediately.

JUSTIFICATION:

This bill would provide that uniformed members of the NYC Department of Correction and Department of Sanitation have the option of taking monetary payment in lieu of terminal leave.

The administrative code of the city of New York is amended by adding a new section 9-134 to read as follows: S 9-134 TERMINAL LEAVE. NOTWITHSTANDING THE PROVISIONS OF ANY GENERAL, SPECIAL OR LOCAL LAW, CODE, RESOLUTION OR CHARTER TO THE CONTRARY, UNIFORMED PERSONNEL OF THE NEW YORK CITY DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTION SHALL BE AFFORDED THE OPTION OF TAKING A MONETARY PAYMENT IN LIEU OF TERMINAL LEAVE AT THE RATE APPLICABLE ON THE DATE OF RETIREMENT. S 2. The administrative code of the city of New York is amended by adding a new section 16-141 to read as follows: S 16-141 TERMINAL LEAVE.
