BILL NUMBER:S5552 TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the long term care integration and finance act of 1997, in relation to extending the expiration of operating demonstrations operating a managed long term care plan PURPOSE: To extend existing programs for 2 years. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section one, Section 88 of Chapter 659 of the laws of 1997, constituting the long term care integration and finance act of 1997, as amended by section 58 of part B of chapter 58 of the laws of 2009 JUSTIFICATION: Given the demographics of the growth of the elderly population and the high amount of current spending by the Medicaid program on long term care services, the changes brought about by this bill are timely. HANNON -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Health AN ACT to amend the long term care integration and finance act of 1997, in relation to extending the expiration of operating demonstrations operating a managed long term care plan THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 88 of chapter 659 of the laws of 1997, constituting the long term care integration and finance act of 1997, as amended by section 58 of part B of chapter 58 of the laws of 2009, is amended to read as follows: S 88. Notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary, all oper- ating demonstrations, as such term is defined in paragraph (c) of subdi- vision 1 of section 4403-f of the public health law as added by section eighty-two of this act, due to expire prior to January 1, 2001 shall be deemed to expire on December 31, [2011] 2013. S 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD11844-01-1
