BILL NUMBER:S5782 TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the highway law, in relation to designating a portion of the state highway system as the "Brighton Veterans Memorial Highway" PURPOSE: To designate a portion of state route 15A in the county of Monroe as the "Brighton Veterans Memorial Highway". SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1. Amends the highway law, adding Section 344-d, designating the portion of state route fifteen A that runs from the Brighton town line, continuing in a generally southerly direction, and terminating at the Henrietta town line as the "Brighton Veterans Memorial Highway". Section 2. Provides for the signing and maintenance of this designation, and provides that this designation is of a ceremonial nature and does not change the official name of state route fifteen A. Section 3. Provides that this act shall take effect immediately. JUSTIFICATION:

ROBACH -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Transportation AN ACT to amend the highway law, in relation to designating a portion of the state highway system as the "Brighton Veterans Memorial Highway" THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The highway law is amended by adding a new section 344-d to read as follows: S 344-D. PORTION OF THE STATE HIGHWAY SYSTEM TO BE DESIGNATED AS THE "BRIGHTON VETERANS MEMORIAL HIGHWAY". ALL THAT PORTION OF THE STATE HIGHWAY SYSTEM CONSTITUTING STATE ROUTE FIFTEEN A IN THE TOWN OF BRIGH- TON, COUNTY OF MONROE, BEGINNING AT THE BRIGHTON TOWN LINE, CONTINUING IN A GENERALLY SOUTHERLY DIRECTION, AND TERMINATING AT THE HENRIETTA TOWN LINE, SHALL BE DESIGNATED AND KNOWN AS THE "BRIGHTON VETERANS MEMO- RIAL HIGHWAY". S 2. The commissioner of transportation shall provide for the instal- lation and maintenance of adequate signing of the state highway system as designated pursuant to section one of this act. However, to avoid confusion and to limit any possible disruption of commerce, the desig- nation called for pursuant to section one of this act shall be of cere- monial nature and the official name of such highway shall not be changed as a result of this act.
