BILL NUMBER:S5910 TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the legislative law, in relation to activities by former registered lobbyists PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL: The purpose of the bill is to prohibit former registered lobbyists from running for any municipal or statewide elective office for a period of two years after termination of their service as a registered lobbyist. SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS: Section 1 amends sections 1-u and 1-v of the legislative law, section 1-v as relettered by chapter 1 of the laws of 2005, are re-lettered sections 1-v and 1-w and a new section 1-u is added to set forth the restriction on former registered lobbyists from running for any municipal or statewide elective office for a period of two years after termination of their service as a registered lobbyist. AVELLA -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Rules AN ACT to amend the legislative law, in relation to activities by former registered lobbyists THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Sections 1-u and 1-v of the legislative law, section 1-v as relettered by chapter 1 of the laws of 2005, are relettered sections 1-v and 1-w and a new section 1-u is added to read as follows: S 1-U. RESTRICTIONS ON ACTIVITIES BY FORMER REGISTERED LOBBYISTS. NO PERSON WHO HAS SERVED AS A REGISTERED LOBBYIST SHALL WITHIN A PERIOD OF TWO YEARS AFTER THE TERMINATION OF SUCH SERVICE OR EMPLOYMENT RUN FOR ANY MUNICIPAL OR STATEWIDE ELECTIVE OFFICE. S 2.
