TITLE OF BILL:
An act
to amend the highway law, in relation to designating a certain portion
of state route 20A the "Wyoming County
Veterans Memorial Highway"

PURPOSE:
This bill would designate a portion of State Route 20A, running from
State Route 98E to State Route 246, as the "Wyoming County Veterans
Memorial Highway".

SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
Section 1. The Highway Law is amended by adding a new section 342-XXX
to create a Wyoming County Veterans Memorial Highway.

JUSTIFICATION:
Wyoming County has a rich history of its residents serving the United
States in our nation's armed conflicts - at home or abroad. This
legislation is a tribute to their selfless contribution to these past
and current struggles; it is one small way of expressing a special
thanks for Wyoming County veterans' courage, camaraderie, patriotism
and unfailing martial spirit.

AN ACT to amend the highway law, in relation to  designating  a  certain
 portion of state route 20A the "Wyoming County Veterans Memorial High
 way"
 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

 

Section 1. The highway law is amended by adding a new section  342-xxx
 to read as follows:

 

S  342-XXX.  PORTION  OF  STATE HIGHWAY SYSTEM TO BE DESIGNATED AS THE
 "WYOMING COUNTY VETERANS MEMORIAL HIGHWAY". THAT PORTION OF STATE  ROUTE
 20A  LOCATED  WITHIN  THE  BOUNDARIES  OF THE COUNTY OF WYOMING FROM THE
 INTERSECTION OF STATE ROUTE 98E TO THE INTERSECTION OF STATE ROUTE  246,
 A DISTANCE OF APPROXIMATELY SIXTEEN AND ONE-TENTH MILES, SHALL BE DESIG
 NATED AND KNOWN AS THE "WYOMING COUNTY VETERANS MEMORIAL HIGHWAY".
 

S  2. The commissioner of transportation shall provide for the instal
 lation and maintenance of adequate signing of the state  highway  system
 as  designated  pursuant  to  section one of this act. However, to avoid
 confusion and to limit any possible disruption of commerce,  the  desig
 nation  called  for  pursuant to section one of this act shall be one of
 ceremonial nature and the official name of such  highway  shall  not  be
 changed as a result of this act.
 

S 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
