BILL NUMBER:S6124A

TITLE OF BILL: An act in relation to legalizing, validating, ratifying and confirming a transportation contract of the Perry central school district

PURPOSE: To amend the education law, in reference to certain acts of the Perry Central School District regarding a transportation contract for the 2012-2013 school year.

SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:

Section 1 ratifies the Education law to legalize, validate, ratify, and confirm notwithstanding any failure to comply with the contract award.

Section 2 directs the transportation aid as valid and proper. Section 3 requires that this act shall take effect immediately.

JUSTIFICATION: The Perry Central School District followed proper procedure in completing transportation contracts for the 2012-2013 school year. Unfortunately, a school business official failed to submit one contract to the State Education Department (SED) in a timely manner. SED is unable to accept this contract because it was not filed on time. This legislation is necessary to enable SED to award this contract. This legislation is required for the school district to receive the appropriate transportation aid as they would otherwise be entitled to under state law.

LEGISLATIVE HISTORY: New bill.

FISCAL IMPLICATIONS: $32,301 previously allocated.

EFFECTIVE DATE: Immediately.
