BILL NUMBER:S6557 TITLE OF BILL: An act to provide for the payment of universal kindergarten program aid for the 2011-2012 school year to the Westfield central school district PURPOSE: This bill provides for the payment of universal prekindergarten program aid for the 2011-2012 school year to the Westfield central school district. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1 of this bill provides that the incorrect statement of unserved pupils in the Westfield central school district shall not prohibit the state education department from making a payment of universal prekindergarten program aid for all unserved pupils in such district, provided that the school district files a corrected application for universal prekindergarten program aid on or before April 1, 2012. YOUNG -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Education AN ACT to provide for the payment of universal kindergarten program aid for the 2011-2012 school year to the Westfield central school district THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of section 3602-e of the education law or any other provisions of law to the contrary, with regard to the payment of universal kindergarten program aid for the 2011-2012 school year to the Westfield central school district, the incorrect statement of unserved pupils in such district included in the application submitted for such aid by the Westfield central school district shall not be deemed to prohibit and impede the education department from making payment of such aid for all unserved pupils in such district, if on or before April 1, 2012 the Westfield central school district files a corrected application for universal kindergarten program aid. The education department shall pay such universal prekin- dergarten program aid for the 2011-2012 school year from funds appropri- ated from funds appropriated for prior year claims. S 2.
