AN ACT to amend the agriculture and markets law, in relation to  provid-
  ing the definition of integrated pest management

  THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section 1. Subdivisions 1, 2, and 3 of section 148 of the  agriculture
and markets law are renumbered subdivisions 2, 3, and 4 and a new subdi-
vision 1 is added to read as follows:
  1.  FOR  PURPOSES OF THIS ARTICLE "INTEGRATED PEST MANAGEMENT" MEANS A
SYSTEMATIC APPROACH TO MANAGING  PESTS  THAT  UTILIZES  A  DIVERSITY  OF
MANAGEMENT  OPTIONS TO MINIMIZE HEALTH, ENVIRONMENTAL AND ECONOMIC RISKS
AND IMPACTS. THESE OPTIONS MAY INCLUDE  BIOLOGICAL,  CULTURAL,  PHYSICAL
AND  CHEMICAL  TOOLS  TO  PREVENT  PEST  INFESTATIONS  OR REDUCE THEM TO
ACCEPTABLE LEVELS.
  S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
