TITLE OF BILL:
An act
to amend chapter 890 of the laws of 1982, relating to the establishment
of certain water charges for hospitals and charities in New York city,
in relation to extending the effectiveness of such chapter for two
additional years

PURPOSE:
Extends the effectiveness of chapter 890 of the laws of 1982, relating
to the establishment of certain water charges for hospitals and
charities in New York City.

SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS:
Section one amends Chapter 890 of the Laws of 1982 to extend its
expiration date until September 1, 2014. This legislation would
continue reduced water rates for hospitals and charitable
institutions in New York City.

Section two is the effective date.

JUSTIFICATION:
This legislation would extend for two years a longstanding reduction
in water charges offered to hospitals and other charitable
organizations in New York City. The continuation of the exemptions
would help to ease some of the financial burdens on these important
institutions.

EFFECTIVE DATE:
This act shall take effect immediately.

AN ACT to amend chapter 890 of the laws of 1982, relating to the  estab
 lishment  of  certain water charges for hospitals and charities in New
 York city, in relation to extending the effectiveness of such  chapter
 for two additional years
 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

 

Section 1.

Section 2 of chapter 890 of the laws of 1982,  relating  to
 the  establishment  of certain water charges for hospitals and charities
 in New York city, as amended by chapter 75  of  the  laws  of  2011,  is
 amended to read as follows:

 

S  2.  This ACT shall take effect immediately and shall remain in full
 force and effect only until September 1, [2012] 2014.
