Memo

BILL NUMBER:S8060

TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the public authorities law, in relation to providing for the construction of capital facilities for Broad Channel Volunteers, Inc. doing business as Broad Channel Volunteer Fire Department and Ambulance Corps, a not-for-profit corporation

PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL: This legislation amends a chapter of the laws of 2010 that will authorize the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York ("DASNY") to provide construction related services to the Broad Channel Volunteers, Inc., doing business as Broad Channel Volunteer Fire Department and Ambulance Corps.

SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS: Section 1. Paragraph (b) of subdivision 2 of section 1676 of the public authorities law as added by a chapter of the laws of 2010 is amended to read as follows:

Broad Channel Volunteers, Inc. doing business as Broad Channel Volunteer Fire Department and Ambulance Corps for the purpose of providing construction related services in connection with the construction, reconstruction, improvement, renovation, development or expansion of facilities owned by Broad Channel Volunteers, Inc., doing business as Broad Channel Volunteer Fire Department and Ambulance Corps, located at 305 Crossbay Boulevard, County of Queens, block 15304, lot 450, New York, 11693.

Section 2. Subdivision 1 of section 1680 of the public authorities law as added by a chapter of the laws of 2010 is amended to read as follows:

Broad Channel Volunteers, Inc. doing business as Broad Channel Volunteer Fire Department and Ambulance Corps for the purpose of providing construction related services in connection with the construction, reconstruction, improvement, renovation, development or expansion of facilities owned by Broad Channel Volunteers, Inc., conducting business under the assumed name of Broad Channel Volunteer Fire Department and Ambulance Corps, located at 305 Crossbay Boulevard, County of Queens, block 15304, lot 450, New York, 11693.

JUSTIFICATION:

This chapter amendment is necessary to identify the appropriate name of the organization filed with the Department of State as the Broad Channel Volunteers, Inc. Previous legislation (S.7140/A.10260) referred to the name under which it was conducting business - Broad

Channel Volunteer Fire Department and Ambulance Corps. This amendment identifies the organization name set forth in their Certificate of Incorporation papers as the appropriate entity for the Dormitory Authority to provide construction services, that is, Broad Channel Volunteers, Inc. doing business as Broad Channel Volunteer Fire Department and Ambulance Corps. In addition, this legislation identifies the address of the physical property owned by the Broad Channel Volunteers Inc. where the construction of the facility will occur.

PRIOR LEGISLATIVE HISTORY: New Bill.

FISCAL IMPLICATIONS: None.

EFFECTIVE DATE: The bill shall take effect on the same date as the legislation proposed in S.7140 and A.10260 takes effect.
