BILL NUMBER: S7563 TITLE OF BILL : An act to direct state agencies which apply for federal medical assistance waivers to post the status of such applications on the agency's internet website PURPOSE : Directs state agencies which apply for federal medical assistance waivers to post information relating thereto on the agency internet website. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS : Section 1. Requires every state agency which applies for a federal medical assistance waiver to post on their public website the application for the waiver, the status of the waiver, and whether it has been approved/disapproved. JUSTIFICATION : In order to provide more transparency and accountability in our healthcare system it is of vital importance that our public is informed with accurate and up-to-date information. HANNON -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Health AN ACT to direct state agencies which apply for federal medical assist- ance waivers to post the status of such applications on the agency's internet website THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary, every state agency, including but not limited to the department of health, which applies for a federal medical assistance waiver shall post and make available to the public on such agency's internet website the application for such waiver, the current status thereof, and whether it has been approved or disapproved. S 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD16980-01-0
