CUSICK -- read once and referred to the Committee on Codes AN ACT to amend the penal law, in relation to extending the buffer zone around a religious service, funeral, burial or memorial service THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The opening paragraph of section 240.21 of the penal law, as amended by chapter 566 of the laws of 2008, is amended to read as follows: A person is guilty of disruption or disturbance of a religious service, funeral, burial or memorial service when he or she makes unrea- sonable noise or disturbance while at a lawfully assembled religious service, funeral, burial or memorial service, or within [one] THREE hundred feet thereof, with intent to cause annoyance or alarm or reck- lessly creating a risk thereof. S 2. This act shall take effect on the one hundred eightieth day after it shall have become a law.
