BILL NUMBER:S4676 TITLE OF BILL: An act to remove from the Albert Wisner memorial public library service area that portion of the town of Chester, in the county of Orange, which is located within such district PURPOSE: This bill removes that portion of the Town of Chester that is currently located in the Albert Wisner Memorial Public Library District. That portion of the Town of Chester would still remain in the Town of Chester Public Library. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1: This bill removes that portion of the Town of Chester that is currently in the Albert Wisner Memorial Public Library District. The boundaries for the Albeit Wisner Memorial Public Library District are currently the same boundaries as the Warwick Valley Central School District which includes a portion of the Town of Chester. Under this bill, properties located roughly in the hamlet of Sugar Loaf would no longer pay taxes to support the Albert Wisner Library and would no longer be in its service area. Residents of Sugar Loaf would still remain in the boundaries of the Town of Chester municipal library, pay real property taxes to support such library, and obtain

LARKIN -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Local Government AN ACT to remove from the Albert Wisner memorial public library service area that portion of the town of Chester, in the county of Orange, which is located within such district THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Notwithstanding the terms of the resolution, enacted pursu- ant to section 255 of the education law, establishing the Albert Wisner memorial public library in 1973 or the charter issued in 1979 for such library by the board of regents, pursuant to section 216 of the educa- tion law, no real property in the town of Chester, in the county of Orange, shall be deemed to be within the service area of such public library. Under no circumstance shall the Warwick Valley central school district impose any library tax for the support of the Albert Wisner memorial public library upon any parcel of real property in the town of Chester. For all purposes, any real property removed from the service area of the Albert Wisner memorial public library pursuant to this act shall be deemed to be within the service area of the Chester public library and shall be subject to taxation for the support of the Chester public library. S 2. This act shall take effect on the first of July next succeeding the date on which it shall have become a law.
