AN ACT to amend the public health law, in relation  to  the  Alzheimer's
  detection and education program and mapping of Alzheimer's locations

  THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section 1. Article 24 of the public health law is amended by adding  a
new title 1-C to read as follows:
                                TITLE 1-C
          ALZHEIMER'S DETECTION, EDUCATION AND MAPPING PROGRAM
SECTION 2415-A. ALZHEIMER'S  DETECTION,  EDUCATION  AND MAPPING PROGRAM;
                  ESTABLISHMENT.
        2415-B. ANNUAL REPORT.
  S 2415-A. ALZHEIMER'S DETECTION, EDUCATION AND MAPPING PROGRAM; ESTAB-
LISHMENT.   1.  THERE  IS  HEREBY  CREATED  WITHIN  THE  DEPARTMENT  THE
ALZHEIMER'S  DETECTION,  EDUCATION AND MAPPING PROGRAM.  THIS PROGRAM IS
ESTABLISHED TO  PROMOTE  SCREENING  AND  DETECTION  OF  ALZHEIMER'S,  TO
EDUCATE  THE  PUBLIC  REGARDING  ALZHEIMER'S,  TO PROVIDE COUNSELING AND
REFERRAL SERVICES AND TO MAP LOCATIONS OF OCCURRENCE OF ALZHEIMER'S.
  2. THE PROGRAM SHALL INCLUDE:
  (A)  ESTABLISHMENT  OF  A  STATEWIDE  PUBLIC  EDUCATION  AND  OUTREACH
CAMPAIGN TO PUBLICIZE ALZHEIMER'S DETECTION AND EDUCATION SERVICES, SUCH
CAMPAIGN SHALL INCLUDE: GENERAL COMMUNITY EDUCATION, ALZHEIMER'S SCREEN-
ING SERVICES, INFORMATION ON THE EXTENT OF COVERAGE FOR SUCH SERVICES BY
HEALTH  INSURANCE,  ANY  AVAILABLE  MEDICAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM AND OTHER
PUBLIC AND PRIVATE PROGRAMS; AND
  (B) COMPILATION OF DATA CONCERNING THE ALZHEIMER'S  DETECTION,  EDUCA-
TION  AND  MAPPING  PROGRAM  INCLUDING  MAPPING  OF THE FREQUENCY OF THE
OCCURRENCE OF ALZHEIMER'S IN VARIOUS LOCATIONS IN THE STATE AND  DISSEM-
INATION OF THE DATA TO THE PUBLIC.
