BILL NUMBER:S1677 TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the labor law, in relation to enacting "Joanne's law" PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL: Requires notification of actions of perpetrator of crime in workplace to former employer or workplace SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS: Section 1:Provides that this act shall be known and may be cited as "Joanne's Law." Section 2:Amends the Labor Law by adding a new section 44 which requires that employers or workplaces are notified if former employees or visitors whom were convicted of crimes that were committed in those workplaces are released from incarceration or violate their probation or parole. BONACIC -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Labor AN ACT to amend the labor law, in relation to enacting "Joanne's law" THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Short title. This act shall be known and may be cited as "Joanne's law". S 2. The labor law is amended by adding a new section 44 to read as follows: S 44. NOTIFICATION OF ACTIONS OF CRIME PERPETRATORS. THE CORRECTIONAL OR PROBATIONAL AUTHORITIES HAVING JURISDICTION OF A PERSON WHO HAS COMMITTED A CRIME IN A WORKPLACE SHALL NOTIFY THE WORKPLACE IF SUCH PERSON IS RELEASED FROM INCARCERATION OR HAS VIOLATED THE PROVISIONS OF HIS OR HER PROBATION OR PAROLE.
