BILL NUMBER:S3307 TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the education law, in relation to authorizing the Ogdensburg city school district to operate as if it were a central school district PURPOSE: To allow the Ogdensburg school district to utilize the provisions allowed for central school districts for purposes of consolidation with other school districts. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1 provides that, notwithstanding that the Ogdensburg central school district is classified as a small city school district under the education law, it will have the option of using the organizational procedure allowed for central school districts under article thirty-seven of the law, for purposes of consolidation with other districts. Section 2 provides the effective date of the legislation. EXISTING LAW:

RITCHIE -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Education AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to authorizing the Ogdensburg city school district to operate as if it were a central school district THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 1524 of the education law is amended by adding a new subdivision 4 to read as follows: 4. NOTWITHSTANDING THE PROVISIONS OF THIS SECTION, THE OGDENSBURG CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT SHALL HAVE THE OPTION OF USING THE ORGANIZATION PROCE- DURE ALLOWED FOR CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICTS UNDER ARTICLE THIRTY-SEVEN OF THIS TITLE.
